    The show has a lot of issues, but this episode was pretty entertaining. I am still bewildered as to why a Sith would expose himself so recklessly. Let’s see where this goes…

    What happened 16 years ago is a closed case. The remaining Jedi under Vernestra need to investigate what happened here, who train this girl that looks like Osha, why she was killing Jedi and who trained her. Meanwhile Vernestra doesn’t want to involve the High Council, and Mae (Osha) still wants justice and is willing to turn herself in to get it. Sol and “Osha” are the only survivors. While Sol claims that the perpetrator was a Sith, he also says that the Sith was big food, and there is no evidence to back up his claim. But, he did lead the Jedi team, they were surprised and overpowered by someone with a lightsaber, by surprise. He was the only Master sent as I understood it, and he trained Osha, who dropped out of the Order years earlier, possible due to her attachments to the past. “Osha” claims that Sol (who also has attachment issues) had her help him kill the other Jedi and frames what happened what happened both here and 16 years earlier and the nature of their relationship differently. Since the other Jedi who were involved in the incident 16 years ago had issues related to what happened and Sol and Osha also seem to have issues with each other and maybe the past, both Master Sol and “Osha” and there is no one and nothing to say differently, it is determined that what happened here in this episode, and that who was behind the earlier murders were Sol and “Osha”, and Sol take the bulk of the blame. The only the problem is that little tracker whom the only one of Vernestra’s enclave could translate for was killed.

    You guys really provide the most level headed views on this show. Its wild how much bad faith there is online that drowns out most genuine critiques. Anyway this was def the best episode so far, still some awkward moments but those are not enough to kill it for me given I enjoy the prequels, which are flawed in very similar ways.

    One thing I always thought was weird with the "we don't serve your kind" scene is, like, what the fuck would a bar even serve to a droid? It probably would have been more impactful to see him discriminate against a particular alien race, perhaps wookies. At least with the prequels, we can interpret it as a prejudice created by the actions of the separatists.

    Let's all have a good laugh at the demise of Jecki, the pompous little punk brat Jedi. Was that it's name? Yea. The Jedi are imperialists who show up to kill you and then when you fight back they act shocked. Sol couldnt believe the blood-thirsty lunatic "Jecki" that was trying to kill Qimir would be killed by him. To quote the adult in that forest "You brought her here." and to add the unsaid "to commit violence and detain someone against their will. You are not innocents".

    Im a bit surprised you like it most. I agree on the bug thing, it was way too silly. But other than that, it was very solid. I dont know if its better or worse than the last episode, they both tell their story very well. The reveal of Qimir was good, though it leaves as much questions as answers. He tried to kill Mae more than once, though he appears to give tender care to Osha and showed concern for Mae previously. Qimir having a twisted attachment to the twins in a semi romantic, possessive, love hate thing would be interesting and I felt that vibe in epsiode 4. It didnt feel that way in Episode 5 until he found Osha at the end. Cotosis intro was cool, a EU classic.

    Awesome review! Man, I love Andor but Andor was very very minimal in terms of drawing from lore. I won't say I like the Acolyte more than Andor, but it sure is nice to see Star Wars made by Star Wars nerds taking inspiration from so much Star Wars stuff.

    I figure that the name "Cortosis" has high odds of getting dropped in a future episode, alongside some light exposition, probably that its some sith creation in canon that the Jedi haven't encountered in generations, if any of them have ever seen it before and lived to tell the tale. It might even have some relationship to Kyber crystals, since all lightsabers use those in canon. As for the Martial-Arts movie inspiration: I'm here for that shit. If Star Wars has room as a franchise and as a setting to include the radically different tones and styles of storytelling between the Original Trilogy and Rogue One/Andor, then I think it has room for some Wuxia bullshit as a treat. I don't want the rest of Star Wars to all suddenly become this, I like this style as something that gives this corner of Star Wars its own vibe and identity. It's my favorite thing going on in The Acolyte, and even if it's not to everyone's taste, I do think it's better-executed for what it's trying to be than a lot of the Mandalorian/Ahsoka-era lightsaber choreography.

    Personally, I think Osha was and is set up to become the Acolyte as it feels like she is the main character, unlike Mei who I see as more of a stepping stone than anything else. The things Qimir talked about are really fitting for her aswell(freedom, not abiding rules as she did not abide the rules of the jedi nor the coven she was born into, instead deciding to stride her own path whatever it may be.

    • @IsaacKuo

      I feel like Qimir was suggesting he wanted Sol himself as his new acolyte. And indeed, he basically tossed Osha aside at first. It was Sol he was manipulating and goading into falling to the Dark Side. In fact, his implicit threat of taking Osha as his new acolyte could be like Vader threatening to turn Luke's sister Leia to enrage Luke. And it was working!

      Outside of episode 3 which had awful child acting, this show has been good to very good. It's one of the most SW things Disney has ever made that's for sure. Always say that Star Wars battles aren’t about powerscaling but rather ones state of mind. I knew that the Jedi had to die but I didn't think they were going to go through with it. Especially Yord and Jecki. I really enjoyed this episode. Qimir is quickly becoming a new favorite character for me. Honestly I hope he is just a force sensitive that found a sith holocron and not part of the rule of two for the sake of my preferred continuity but honestly my reservations about the sith in this show are somewhat faded. I always thought that Osha would fall to the darkside after Mae's death. I thought maybe Sol might be forced to kill Mae at some point but now I don't know what will cause that change.

    • @parkerdixon-word6295
      @parkerdixon-word6295 18 часов назад

      Respectfully, If Qimir turns out not to be a Rule of Two Sith, then his plotline kinda has to get resolved in this show, right? It's weird if he shows up as another darksider without any resolution to that plotline, and I feel like it's way more fun if this is a series where the Sith just *win* even if winning in this case is remaining hidden and taking on a capable new apprentice, likely Osha. I think the story has a more interesting place in continuity if it's the story of just a few links in the chain of masters and apprentices of Rule of Two Sith, and how Osha became one of them, someone who was lead down the path to the dark side in part by the flaws of the Jedi, even this far back in the High Republic Era. That feels like the way this story might've originally been pitched, on top of it being expressed in a more Martial Arts film/Wuxia style, which I still adore.

There just isn't enough time for Qimir to be a rule of two Sith with that continuity let alone Osha. Personally I feel that having a rogue darksider who has learned the ways of the Sith from a holocron allows the writers to have the freedom to do what they want with this character rather than try and force him into the lineage of the rule of two way to close to the prequels. He could be a rogue former acolyte to Tenebrous if needed. I really like Qimir's character and I want him to be his own thing.
